Leading up to a major announcement next week revealing the biggest change Leg.GG has undergone since it's inception - we wanted to talk about the return of the beloved SMP+ server, our roadmap and plan, and the sunsetting of SMP Classic.

SMP+ Season 6
SMP+ is our main long-term server experience - bringing a bunch of custom and enhanced features on top of vanilla Minecraft gameplay. With all custom terrain generation, unique enchantments, and unique experiences SMP+ is where we started and it's one of the main things that y'all keep coming back for.

The team has been working away at new systems and a new world and hub for you to explore on SMP+ - special shoutout to Jeahnoh who has done an extreme amount of work leading the charge on the creation of Puerto Parca - Season 6's hub town.
We've already discussed SMP+'s major economy changes coming in Season 6, with a focus on reducing the "PVP" elements of the economy, but we wanted to dive into a timeline of WHEN SMP+ will launch, and WHAT will be included in the server as it progresses over time.
The above list is a non-exhaustive idea of how we're planning to continue to support and evolve SMP+ post-launch. The goal here is to always have something new so you're never just DONE with things.
SMP+ Will be launching on the server on August 22nd to all players, and we can't wait to see what adventures you will get up to in this new world!
Further specifics as far as time of the launch, when the Nether and End open up, and more will come in a future post.
SMP Classic
With SMP+ returning, and with other long-term experiences coming to Leg.GG soon, the time has come to wind down SMP Classic.
This more vanilla-focused experience was an experiment within the team if we could create a world without chunk-based land protection, going back to our roots as a community server first and foremost. This was, as we quickly learned throughout SMP Classic's runtime, a bad decision.
Where we were the last time we ran a SMP server without land claims and where we are now could not be more different. The unfortunate reality of this is we had experienced an over 3500% increase in griefing and moderation actions during SMP Classic's runtime. This, coupled with how the current SMP Classic playerbase has moved further and further from the server's core values, is why it is being shut down.
A world download will be provided in the next few weeks, after we've finished all remaining work on getting SMP+ ready to go. We know this is sudden, but steps we're taking to get the server more out there are made harder with such a server that is so difficult to moderate as a part of the game roster.
If there are any concerns with the shutdown of SMP Classic, please direct conversations towards the Leg.GG Discord where myself and the team will be around to respond to any constructive conversations.
SMP Classic will shut down on August 8th, 2025 - so get your last builds in place and prepare for the world download to continue those adventures after it's ready!
