Extraction 1.2.3 Update

Extraction 1.2.3 Update

Welcome to 1.21!!

Extraction has FINALLY fully updated to 1.21! This comes after a ton of work from the whole team to properly update the plugin and world to the latest version. Let's talk about everything new coming, and what's coming next in the proper content focused update. This one's a bit more technical, let's dive in.

Mob Spawning Update

With 1.2.3, we're re-enabling mob spawning in the Nexus, with some MAJOR tweaks.

Instead of the vanilla mob cap which was overwhelming in Extraction's more curated experience, we've modified the mob cap to more align with Extraction's gameplay. Players have an individual mob cap of 10 when roaming the Nexus for mobs that will passively spawn in darkness just to make sure the world always feels like the threatening place that it is.

As always, let us know how this feels on Discord - we want to know how this impacts your experiences.

Breaking Changes

Unfortunately, 1.21 broke a lot of stuff. NBT was removed in favor of components, which are WAY better, but things like custom head based loot it just fully incompatible with the new version and serializing that content to the database. Because of this, the following items from before this update will be broken and invalid:

  • Turing's Helmet
  • Broken Toaster
  • Bucket of Chicken
  • Bag of Seeds
  • Airdrop Orders
  • Engrams

Other items are convertible, and required an update via the item updater:

  • Paratrooper Dagger

These items being broken as a part of 1.21 is the last time we'll have something like this happen - and we're sorry they got broken. We tried everything we could to get them working which is one of the main reasons this update took so long - but in the end it was too much. We don't expect something like this in the future.

Nametags

We are aware that the Cartographer no longer accepts nametags. This is due to 1.21 making villager trades respect Component data in 1.21. Good for mapmakers, bad for this specific trade. We'll be creating a new UI for turning in nametags in the near future to resolve this issue.

That's It?

This might seem like a shorter update, but this was a TON of work behind the scenes. Just look:

This was quite an endeavor, and now that the bones are in place we can ACTUALLY look into adding 1.21 content like new weapons, new treasures, and new trials in the future...

See you soon!
